1EdTech Glossary (SANDBOX VERSION)

OAuth is an open-standard authorization protocol that describes how systems can safely allow authenticated access. 1EdTech uses OAuth 2.0 in many of its edtech standards.

In relation to the CASE standard, an official URL is a URL from the original source.

OneRoster® is an interoperability standard developed by 1EdTech that simplifies the exchange of roster data between learning applications. OneRoster enables the exchange of information about students, teachers, classes, grades, and course materials saving the institution and its members valuable time and money.

Supports the exchange of gradebooks data in the form of: results, lineItems, collections of lineItems (categories) and score-scales. It is also possible to exchange information about assessment activities in the form of assessment lineItems and assessment results.

Supports the ability to manage the allocation of resources to classes, courses and users.

Supports the secure transfer of data related to enrollments. This service exchanges information about users, classes, organizations, and enrollments

A type of digital badge that conforms to the 1EdTech Open Badges standard and can serve as portable credentials containing metadata that offer detailed information about the achievements being credentialed. Open Badges contain metadata which provides additional information about the credential and how it was earned.

OIDC is an open standard that works in concert with OAuth to provide a single sign on (SSO) experience.  OIDC is used as the base of the LTI 1.3 core specification.
